This album is indeed a daring celebration of Gospel Music. Why daring you ask? This is an instrumental album, not with keyboards or sax as you would expect from Ben Tankard and Angella Christie but with the violin, an instrument not widely embraced by the black church. Why a celebration you ask? This album features beautiful instrumentals of some of recent Gospel Music’s most well known songs. Burton, a Philadelphia native has been highly acclaimed for her unique style of classical music for the black church.

The best of the album’s 10 tracks are Kirk Franklin’s “ Why We Sing”, which is one of the most upbeat pieces on the whole album, Dorothy Norwood’s “Shake The Devil Off”, with its funky intro is one of my favorites, her violin accompaniment on Donnie McClurkins’s “Stand” fit so beautifully and melodiously, it almost makes you feel as her loving and patient hands gliding along the strings of her trusty violin are missing from the original piece. Other standouts are her beautiful accompaniment on “I Must Tell Jesus”. This album is perfect for your times of meditation and for when you are looking for something new about the songs you already loved.

I must say at first, I was real scared to review a violinist!! That was one of the best projects I have heard in a long time. Good musical selections, very anointed.

If you don’t feel God moving in the music Katherine plays then you can’t be alive. Thank God for instrumentalists like Katherine who can bring songs to life like: Order My Steps, Shake The Devil Off and Why We Sing.

Katherine Burton’s “I’ll Fly Away” CD is a very inspirational and moving project. This project will take you to the throne of God. Katherine adds a unique flare to Gospel Music expressed on this project with her excellent violin skills. The song “Order My Steps” is especially one cut that Katherine really flows with the Holy Spirit. Anyone that purchases this CD will be truly blessed with the anointing that resides in this project. It allows you to experience Gospel Music in a new and delightful way.

Royale Entertainment.Com's - New Artist of the Year for 2000

It has been asked by many of my peers and fellow colleagues as to what were the determining factors in making the decision to award Katherine Burton with the very first Royale Entertainment New Artist of the Year Award. The best answer that I can give is it has to be the fact that I can feel her spirit in her music. I must admit, Katherine was definitely up against some very stiff competition with artists like Tone'x, Patrice Morris, Joye B. Moore and even my group own group Royale to name a few. Originality had to play a partial role in my decision as well. I receive many demo packages and completed projects from artists on a daily basis. In this business, I probably get to opportunity to listen to some of the best gospel music this side of Heaven. I hear artists that could sing the roof off church on the drop of a dime, but Katherine's project is the only project I received in all of the Year 2000 that stood out above the rest. "I'll Fly Away" is one you can put in your CD player in your car on a long road trip, and let it play over and over again. I am so impressed with her project, it's hard to believe that it is her debut album, and to call her a "new artist" doesn't sound right when mentioning her in the industry. I believe that if we could get more artists like Katherine to use their God given talents, and keep a humbled heart as she has, Our Father will be truly pleased with our work here on earth.
